Hope you are feeling better, Diane. There is some wisdom in your body, so if you continue to feel yucky, there may be something there to adjust. Years ago, when I was grieving my mother's cancer and death I put on forty pounds! I was able to take it off over a two year period by following the nutritional advice found in Laurel's Kitchen cookbook. It is about establishing a whole new way of eating. I took it off, and it was worth the effort. After that, I set a 'low and high range' of ten pounds as my weight goal. When I get to the top of it, I start to take it off.

If you think staying on an eating plan is a challenge, how about living with someone who is on a new diet???!!! Let me tell you that with the right partner, it is far easier than doing it oneself. Especially if your spouse goes out and buys the food and cooks the first 2 days worth, even packs you your approved lunch in little plastic containers and kisses you goodbye as you leave for work where you will be surrounded by candy, cookies and other goodies left over from Christmas gifts to the office.

Thanks to my wife, I've also been "mostly" on the plan for 1 2/3 days. Breakfast with the guys after Bible Class turned out fine. With 9 of us at the table, I was shy about asking for steamed veggies and poached eggs. So I ordered the usual veggie omlette. But, eggs weren't supposed to be fried, so I chased down the waitress and asked if she could team me some veggies and add poached eggs. Sure, she smiled. When it was served, at least 3 pals asked how I managed to get that? They will be ordering it next week.

Couldn't resist a half cup of real coffee this afternoon, but that diet Dr. Pepper that has been awaiting its lid to be flipped for the past hour is not ice cold anymoe and maybe I can resist... ffffzzzzz Oh well, no sugar anyway.

I journal about once a month, usually just a few pages at a time. I have yet to face a blank screen and attempted to write anything else. It is a daunting prospect. When I am particularly joyous, such as when I am spending intimate time with my wife, songs and lymericks come to me. While they please me, I never write them down. They disappear like Champaigne bubbles. I'll come back to your column as I feel intrigued and challenged by the idea of my doing deliberate writing of memories, anecdotes or even fiction.

Thank you for your blog. I look forward to your next entries.
